| Halcyon December 20, 2004 09:39 PM PST One of my favourite manga characters wears a swastika, or more precisely a reverse swastika, this is more to do with buddist connotations rather than the later corruption by the nazis | ||
| Ian_Fan July 17, 2004 02:50 PM PDT I understand some of your problems, because my mom is big on looking your abosolute best...even to just get the mail, whereas I don't care that much, as long as it expresses me and is comfortable. Everytime we try to go shopping we end up splitting, mom to the makeup and dresses, me to the boys/mens section where i can get ties and comfortable shoes. I understand some of the "No, you can't get..." because i hear that. A lot. | ||
| sadclown July 17, 2004 01:20 PM PDT Ah Gloria, from one Asian to another, I feel your pain. Not only do I have the same debates rage against the motherly unit and I, but it goes with the fatherly unit and myself as well. The fatherly unit and I do it in what I call "express rounds", we hold these debates while grocery shopping. Great entry! | ||
| criedmeout July 17, 2004 12:40 PM PDT it's funny how much i could empathise with you. probably because a lot of what you said reflects my own relationship with my mother. *smiles* i find that last generation chinese women generate mixed feelings. it's funny.. you hate them, but you can't help loving them too. although one good thing does come out of a continuously growing relationship. my mother now knows never to go shopping with me, least of all buy me any item of clothing (jewellery doesn't count *winks*). and take a picture of those boots when you get them will you. i'd love to lend you my share of 'oohs' and 'aahs'. | ||
